GEOTHERMAL RESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS
OFFER HIGH-EFFICIENCY COMFORT,
SAVE HOMEOWNERS UP TO 60%
Pittsburgh, Pa. -
Homeowners can enjoy energy efficient heating and cooling by using the free, renewable and clean energy found in their own yards, says Bob Wade, President,
Wade Heating and Cooling Inc. With this remarkable technology known as geothermal energy, every homeowner can tap into the earth's free energy reserve to power a system that's
proven to operate up to four times more efficiently than natural gas, propane, electric resistance, oil or air-to-air heat pumps.
"Growing consumer acceptance, advancements in technology and increasing support from utility companies have made geothermal an increasingly popular choice among homeowners," said Wade.
Geothermal systems offer better comfort and lower energy costs than ordinary energy systems because geothermal transfers the heat from the earth rather than producing it. While other forms
of heating and cooling can be efficient, only geothermal systems produce three to four times more energy than they consume. Even the most efficient ordinary heating and cooling systems
produce only up to one unit of energy for the home for every unit of energy consumed.
Geothermal systems benefit the environment because they transfer heat rather than creating it, helping conserve energy by reducing the demand for new utility plants and refineries.
Geothermal systems, such as those from Water Furnace International of Fort Wayne, Indiana, also are using refrigerants that do not harm the environment and that dramatically reduce greenhouse
gas emissions. They are one of the most efficient solutions to our growing pollution problem, and one in which homeowners can make a real contribution to a cleaner environment.
A geothermal system includes a buried piping system called an earth loop. (This rugged polyethylene piping can be installed in three closed loop versions - horizontal, vertical
and pond - or as an open loop, using an available water source.) The loops are connected inside the home to a geothermal unit housing a heat exchanger, compressor and fan. Advances in
loop installation technology have increased the ease of installation for homeowners who are replacing older, less efficient ordinary heating and cooling systems with a high efficiency geothermal system.
"While the loop system that's appropriate for the homeowner will be determined by soil conditions and terrain, the new techniques make this method an excellent choice for homes with mature landscaping.
The disturbance to yards is minimal," said Wade. "We can install the system easily and cost effectively, helping the homeowner save even more."
Because the subsoil temperature of the earth remains constant and moderate throughout the year, every home is surrounded by its own source of free energy. In winter,
a combination of water and antifreeze circulating through the underground piping absorbs heat from the warmer earth and carries it to the geothermal unit where the heat is extracted
and distributed throughout the home.
In summer, the geothermal system reverses the process: Heat is removed from the home and transferred back to the fluid in the underground loop, where it is dispersed into the cooler earth.
As with ordinary heating and cooling systems, the homeowner controls the comfort level at all times with a thermostat.

BEAVER COUNTY JUST GOT A LITTLE WARMER!
Robert Wade, the president of Wade Heating and Cooling, Inc., identified a need in Beaver County for homeowners who need a new furnace but can’t afford to buy one. The average cost of new furnace and installation is approximately $3,000.
Wade partnered with Carrier and Beaver County Times to present the first annual Wade Warmer Winter program for 2005.
It was determined that Wade Heating and Cooling, Inc. would award the installation of 5 furnaces in 2005, with the hopes of continuing the program and adding one additional furnace, annually.
The ad campaign started in September. Applications were made available at Wade Heating and Cooling offices in Moon Township and Aliquippa and online.
The general public was encouraged to nominate needy families, resulting in nearly 100 applications received; each telling a different Beaver County story.
Top nominated applications were researched and interviewed, and then five families were chosen to receive furnace systems.
November 19, Wade kicked off the delivery of the furnace systems with a ride from Robinson Township into Beaver County, stopping along the way at each Wade Warmer Winter winning home.
